The Power of Planning

Did you know the average adult makes around 35,000 decisions every day?

Most of them are unconscious, but still—how exhausting does that sound?

Even more surprising: research suggests we make 200–250 decisions a day about food alone. Every decision, no matter how small, drains your mental energy. By the end of the day, most of us are “decisioned-out.”

And that fatigue? It’s often what leads to impulsive choices, skipped workouts, or mindless snacking.

So here’s the question:
What could you do with that energy if you weren’t using it to constantly decide what to eat, wear, or do next?

Why Weekly Planning Is a Game-Changer

This is where planning ahead becomes your secret weapon—not just for productivity, but for peace of mind.

Try planning:

  • 📝 Your meals and grocery list for the week

  • 🥗 A few simple meal prep items to grab in a pinch

  • 🧘 Your workouts (and yes, even your workout outfits!)

  • 🧥 Your clothes for the day or week

  • 📆 Time blocks for your non-negotiables—sleep, movement, self-care

Each thing you plan in advance removes one more decision from your day—and frees up energy for what really matters.

Decision Fatigue Is Real (and Personal)

I’ve noticed that when I’m tired—mentally or physically—I’m far more likely to reach for food that doesn’t align with my goals. It’s not about willpower. It’s about mental load.

But when I’ve already planned and prepped—even just a little—I don’t give myself the chance to spiral into “What should I eat?” at 9 PM. I simply follow the plan I made when I was clear-headed and goal-focused.

That small shift? It changes everything.

Ask Yourself:

What else can you plan in advance to protect your energy and support your goals?

Because you don’t need to rely on willpower when you’ve already set yourself up to win.
