What to Do When Consistency Doesn’t Feel Like It’s Working

We’ve all been there.

You’ve been showing up for yourself—making mindful choices, putting in effort for weeks. Sure, you’ve had a few imperfect days (because… life), but overall, you’ve stayed committed. And for a while, it feels like it’s working—the scale is moving, your clothes fit a little better, and you're feeling proud.

Then, you really dial it in. You start hitting your macros every day, drinking your water, staying on track. Three days go by. Then four. You step on the scale and… the number goes up?

Wait, what?

Suddenly, you feel defeated. Maybe you think: “Obviously, this isn’t working. I must need to try something else.”

But here’s the truth: you don’t need a new plan—you need to keep going.

This Is the Moment That Matters

When things feel like they’re not working, that’s the moment when most people give up. But the ones who keep going? They’re the ones who see the breakthrough.

Sometimes it just takes one more day. Or two. Or three. Then—WOOSH—your body catches up. The scale drops. Your energy improves. You suddenly realize all that effort was doing something—you just couldn’t see it yet.

Why the Scale Lies (Sometimes)

Weight fluctuates for dozens of reasons that have nothing to do with fat loss:

  • Water retention from soreness or hormones

  • A salty meal or extra carbs the night before

  • Digestion (or lack of…)

  • Stress, sleep, hydration—you name it

None of these things mean your efforts aren’t working. They just mean you’re human.

The Real Power of Consistency

Yes, consistency leads to results—but more importantly, consistency builds identity.
Each time you show up for yourself, you’re reinforcing the habits that create lasting change. You’re becoming the version of yourself who:

  • Prioritizes movement

  • Fuels your body with purpose

  • Stays hydrated

  • Responds with curiosity, not panic

Before you know it, these things stop being “goals” and start becoming who you are.

Keep Going. It Gets Better.

So the next time the scale goes up—or progress slows—don’t let that little voice convince you it’s not working.

You’re building something bigger than a number. You’re building trust with yourself.

And I promise you: if you stay consistent, the change will come.
The results will show up.
And you will keep showing up—stronger, wiser, and more confident every day.
